Description

Laurie Hall was a mid-Victorian town hall and literary institute. At the time this photograph was taken for Bovis Ltd, contractors, its conversion to a cinema was nearing completion. A sign on the cinema indicates that it was due to open on 1st September 1913, with film posters advertising 'Lady Audley's Secret' and 'A Fighting Chance'. The building was later demolished in 1970.
