Description

The Montagu House shown here, the second on the site, was a palatial residence constructed in 1859-62 in the French Renaissance style to the designs of William Burn. The site is now occupied by the Ministry of Defence, in a building designed in 1913 (the date this photograph was taken), but only constructed after the Second World War.
