The photograph was commissioned by A C Hutchins. It is unclear who A C Hutchins was, but in 1914, an Alfred C Hutchins, advertising agent, had an office at 317 High Holborn. Somerset Street, on which the hotel stood, was later demolished and the site is now occupied by Selfridges department store.
