Description

The hotel opened as the Richmond Hill Hotel in 1865. In 1877 it became 'The Mansion' and by 1889 was known as 'The Mansion Hotel', the name it was trading under when this photograph was taken. During the 20th century further name changes followed including the 'New Star and Garter Hotel', 'The Star and Garter' and 'Nightingale Hall'. It is now known as the Petersham Hotel. A C Hutchins commissioned the photograph.
