Description

The General Buildings are a block of offices designed by Sir John Burnet and built between 1909 and 1911 for the General Accident Assurance Corporation, who also commissioned the photograph. The General Buildings housed the offices of the War Refugees Committee and the Belgian Labour section of the Ministry of Labour's Employment Exchange, perhaps because of the strong link between the General Accident Assurance Co and the Belgian Insurance industry.
