The Lord Wandsworth College was established in the early 20th century after a bequest left by Lord Wandsworth to establish an orphanage. In the early years the college primarily taught rural subjects, but it became a public school in 1958. The gates and lodge were designed by the architect R Blomfield, and built by Holloway Brothers, for whom the photograph was taken.
