Description

The Grange Theatre was built in 1914, and was designed by the architect Edward A Stone. Its vast auditorium could seat over two thousand people, and at the time of its opening, was probably the largest cinema in Britain. The Bedford Lemere daybook records that this photograph was commissioned by a firm called 'Norfolk and Prior', but it is unclear what their role was.
