Description

The final painting was rendered in oil on canvas during the same year. John Russell Scott (1879–1949) was the manager of the newspaper the Manchester Guardian, later purchasing the Manchester Evening News and eventually forming the company now known as the Guardian Media Group. The final portrait is held in the Guardian News and Media Archive.
