Carlton House Terrace was built as a pair of palatial terraces of grand town houses flanking the steps to Waterloo Place. The terrace was designed by John Nash and built in 1827 to 1829 on the former site of Carlton House. The Bedford Lemere daybook records that this photograph was taken for T & W Farmiloe, lead, glass & varnish manufacturers.
