Description

SS Kaiser-I-Hind was built for Peninsular & Oriental Lines (P&O) and undertook her maiden voyage between London and Mumbai in 1914. She was requisitioned for use as a troopship during the First World War and was scrapped in 1938. Alice Edith Isaacs (Marchioness of Reading) was the wife of Rufus Isaacs, Viceroy of India and a prominent philanthropist. P&O commissioned this photograph.
