Description

This building had until 1914 been the home of the German Athenaeum Club but on the outbreak of war the club was closed, and in 1915 let to the United Forces Club Company for the use of the Services Club, a club for officers of the army and navy. By 1922 the club appears to have changed its name to the Stratford Club. The photograph was commissioned by J McCandlish.
