Description

A reference in the Australian newspaper 'The Queenslander' from the 23rd of January 1915 states that 750 square yards of the rubber flooring was presented to Guy's Hospital by the chairman of the Rubber Growers Association, Mr John McEwan. The flooring was manufactured and laid by the Leyland and Birmingham Rubber Company Limited.

The Bedford Lemere daybook records that the architectural partnership of Thompson and Walford may have been responsible for works on the hospital buildings at this time, and that the photograph is one of a series commissioned by Guy's Hospital.
