Description

It is unclear where the arch was originally sited, but a building visible through the arch other images bears the street name 'Great Maze Pond', a road still on the hospital site today. The Bedford Lemere daybook records that the architectural partnership of Thompson and Walford may have been responsible for works on the hospital buildings at this time, and that the photograph is one of a series commissioned by Guy's Hospital.
