Description

The Bedford Lemere daybook notes that Hampden House was at this time the home of the Duke of Sutherland, George Sutherland-Leveson-Gower, the 5th Duke of Sutherland. The daybook also states that the photograph was commissioned by a Women's Organisation, but the name is illegible; it could possibly read 'Furnisbury' or 'Furnisham' Women's Organisation, but this cannot be confirmed and no records of organisations with those names can currently be found.
