Description

The SS Montlaurier was at this point in its history owned by the Canadian Pacific Steamship Company, setting sail for Quebec on the 4th of May 1923 just after this photograph was taken. The vessel began life in 1907 as the SS Prinz Friedrich Wilhelm, being surrendered in March 1919 to the British fleet as part of reparations after World War One. The was subsequently renamed many times, ending her serving life as the SS Montnairn when she was scrapped in 1929. The Bedford Lemere daybook records that this copy photograph was commissioned by the Canadian Pacific Railway Company, an associated company of the Canadian Pacific Steamship Company.
