Description

The painting is one of three panels on the subject of hunting originally commissioned to be hung in the Refreshment Rooms of the House of Lords. However, when the House of Commons refused to pay the fee for the works, the paintings were sold to private collectors. This painting was eventually purchased by Pears soap company and featured in their advertising campaigns, before being sold to John Dewar and Sons Limited, distillers, who commissioned this photograph and used a reproduction of the iconic image as part of their trademark branding.
