The Liberty shop was established by Arthur Lasenby Liberty in 1875. The Regent Street block is shown here during the rebuilding of the store which took place between 1922 and 1926. This photograph, commissioned by Contractors Higgs and Hill, shows the entrance to Argyll Place (Great Marlborough Street) in the foreground. One of the old buildings has already been demolished, whilst the remainder are shored up, yet still trading. A newly completed section of the store is visible to the far right.
