William and Marianne Claridge began the business in a single house at 51 Brook Street. The hotel expanded during the 1850s and was purchased by Richard D'Oyly Carte's Savoy group in 1893. After 5 years of closure the redesigned and refurbished Claridges Hotel and restaurant opened once again in 1898. The photograph was taken for A C Mambrino, manager.
