The photograph is part of a set commissioned by the Metropolitan Carriage, Wagon and Finance Company of Birmingham who constructed the Pullman car for Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits, operators of railway sleepers and dining cars in Europe, including the Orient Express. The carriage was photographed in Harwich, prior to transportation to the Continent.
