Description

157 Leadenhall Street housed the London Assurance Company and 159 was home to the Marine Insurance Company Limited, although the Bedford Lemere daybook describes it as the premises of the "London & Lancashire Insurance Company". According to the daybook, the photograph was taken for the "Birmingham Guild", likely to be the Birmingham Guild of Handicraft, an Arts and Crafts organisation who produced furniture and metalware.
