Description

The premises are shown here shortly after completion. They were occupied by the Hudson's Bay Company, a business founded in 1670, trading fur from the Hudson Bay area of North America. By the latter part of the 19th century the company had expanded into retailing and by the 1980s had moved out of the fur trade to concentrate on the retail sector. The building was designed by the architects Mewes & Davis.
