Description

Nicholls and Clarke was founded in 1875 by Samuel Nicholls, and the premises expanded over the next fifty years to form this showroom and workshops in surrounding streets. The company originally described itself as 'glass, lead and colour merchants', but later sold sanitary ware, as pictured, and architectural ironmongery. The company commissioned this photograph.
