Description

Dated 1671, the statue was carved by Thomas Burman at the cost of her nephew William Cavendish, Duke of Newcastle, and brought from London. Located on the first floor of the central Gatehouse of the West Range, which has been renamed Shrewsbury Tower. This image is printed in the RCHME Inventory volume, City of Cambridge – Part II. A print of this image is in the RCHME Inventory Notes for St. John's College.
