Description

The ferry was used to enable corn wagons to cross the river at this point. 'Moulsford Asylum', built in 1870, was later known as 'Bekshire Lunatic Asylum' (from 1897), 'Berkshire Mental Hospital' (from 1915), and finally Fair Mile Hospital from 1948. It was closed in 2003.
