Description

Britannia Pier was first constructed in 1858, but was demolished in 1899 after being damaged by a ship colliding with it during a storm. The present steel and timber pier dates to 1900-1902, and has featured several pavilions throughout the twentieth century; early pavilions were destroyed by fire and the present structure dates to 1958.
