Photographer's note - 'constant gas flame cigarette lighter still burning as a memorial flame to the days when the taking of nicotine from cigarettes, cigars or pipes was considered a joyfull accompaniment to the imbibition of intoxicating liquids and convivial company that commonly used to be found in the English Public House.'
