Description
The illustration is reproduced as part of figure 43 on page 63 of the 1989 English Heritage Book of Avebury by Caroline Malone. The accompanying description in the book indicates that the figure is a Neolithic flint knapper, but the illustrators note on the original drawing describes him as a 'Mesolithic flint worker striking flakes off a core'.
