Description

Willowford Bridge was rebuilt once again in the late second or early third century AD. It was widened in order to carry the Military Way road over the River Irthing, as well as the course of the wall. Please see drawings IC048/034 and IC048/035 for depictions of the earlier phases of the bridge.

This drawing has a tracing paper overlay attached, which shows details of the original reprographic requirements (not technically part of the image, but important in understanding the use of the drawing). A note on the sheet reads 'Willowford Bridge, 93', and may refer to the locations/ publications where this illustration was to be reproduced.
