Description

Between 1227 and 1272, Richard, Earl of Cornwall, was responsible for huge construction projects at Launceston Castle. During this period, stone perimeter fortifications were added, as pictured here, along with the insertion of the High Tower within the shell keep, the addition of the walls flanking the motte and the adjoining D-shaped tower.
