Description

The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle records that in the year 552, 'Cynric fought against the Britons at a place called Searobyrg, and put the Britons to flight'. Searobyrg was the Anglo-Saxon name for Old Sarum. The illustration is one of a set created in about 2004, and may have been included in an exhibition at the site in 2004.
