Description

This is an updated, amended version of an earlier original ink painting created in March - April 1983 on the same sheet (see IC081/013. Note: the original illustration exists only as a digital scan). The artist has amended the hall range, as well as adding watercolour to the illustrations. The original drawing was one of seven phased reconstructions of the castle, shown from the same viewpoint throughout its development.

This version of the illustration was reproduced on page 33 of the 2008 English Heritage guidebook for Portchester Castle. This painting is one of four phased colour reconstructions of the castle, shown from the same viewpoint throughout its development.
