Description

A cropped version of this illustration was reproduced inside the front cover of the 2006 English Heritage guidebook for Rievaulx Abbey as part of an orientation illustration. The original painting was created in May 1984, with amendments made in July of the same year by the same artist (see IC086/002). The original version appeared in the 1994 English Heritage guidebook for the site and exists in digital form only, as it was later amended once more to form this current version of the illustration; in this current version, the visitors' centre has been added on the lower-right area of the painting.
