Description

There is another drawing of this view of the house in this set of artworks, which may have been made in preparation for this later pained version; see IC148/003. This building suffered storm damage in 1790 and was never rebuilt. The remainder of Abbey House is now in use as a visitor centre for Whitby Abbey.
