Temple Bar was built in 1670-72 as the West Gate of the City of London. It was dismantled in 1878 and was later purchased by Henry Meux and moved to Theobalds Park. The gate remained at Theobalds until 2003. In 2004 it was re-erected in Paternoster Square, City of London.
