Description

A series of 528 black and white photographs of various sites in London taken by Leonard Robin Mattock (1936-1986).

Sites include the Crystal Palace Dinosaurs, Hyde Park, Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, London Zoo, Avery Hill

A number of photographs show Maritime Greenwich, including the National Maritime Museum (including photographs of exhibits), Queen's House, Cutty Sark and the Royal Observatory.

Several churches are shown. Many of these were rebuilt by Sir Christopher Wren following the Great Fire of London in 1666, others remain only as towers.

Other interesting photographs include sections of London Wall, the construction of London Bridge (1967-1972), and the excavation of Roman sites on Lower Thames Street.
