Description

The Christchurch Road store of Marks and Spencer opened in 1939. The store later incorporated a retail premises on the adjacent site formerly occupied by the Savoy Cinema (599-601 Christchurch Road), which had been redeveloped after its closure in 1958. In the early 21st century the Marks and Spencer store was occupied by Primark, while the Woolworth's store later became a Superdrug shop.
