Description

In 1927 Marks and Spencer was listed as being a Penny Bazaar at 57-62 Market Hall. The retailer had moved to premises on Cambridge Street by 1934 and later expanded into adjacent site to the east. The five bays on the left (west) side of the facade are the former premises before the extension. Marks and Spencer later moved to premises at 18-20 Cambridge Street, and in the early 21st century the former store at nos. 36-38 was occupied by Primark.
