The Burton store was built in the early to mid 20th century. In the mid 1980s Burnley Building Society merged with Provincial Building Society to become National & Provincial Building Society, which was later taken over by Abbey National. The building at 7-11 The Butts was occupied by Abbey National, later Santander, in the early 2000s.
