This was one of two Burton stores on Attercliffe Road; the other store was located at 528-588 Attercliffe Road. Foundation stones were laid by Stanley Howard Burton, Raymond Montague Burton, Arnold James Burton and Stephen Austin Burton, probably in 1931-1932, when this store was built.
