Description

The Burton store in Kirkcaldy dates from 1937. Foundation stones were laid by Raymond Montague Burton and Stanley Howard Burton on the Whytecauseway elevation, and by Arnold James Burton on the High Street. In this photograph, the store appears to have been subdivided with another business occupying part of the Whytecauseway frontage. The first floor of the building was used as a ballroom and billiards hall, and by the Co-operative Insurance Society as shown in this photograph.
