Description

The Burton store was built in 1937. The granite facade is one of around 15 to feature on Burton stores built in the 1930s. After closing as a Burton store, the premises was occupied by various businesses including Normans Fabrics and Ripolin paints; Thomson, travel agents; Stead and Simpsons, shoe shop; Costa Coffee; and independent discount and technology shops. The first floor has been used as a billiards club, snooker hall, language school, and offices.
