Description

The Burton store in Aberystwyth was built in 1938, with foundation stones laid by Arnold James Burton, Raymond Montague Burton and Stanley Howard Burton in that year. The building is considered to be an important example of a largely unchanged store in Burton's typical 'house style' of architecture. The ground floor shopfront windows feature nested chevrons in the transom lights, a motif which often featured the 'chain of merit' listing locations of important Burton stores.
