The item is an annotated enlargement of the Ordnance Survey Plan TQ7415 - 7515. It shows the abbey, town and battlefield, with hand-tinted areas to show areas that are open to the public, areas that are school ground, and other areas. A legend explains the colours used. The bottom part of the item, with the title and legend, has been stuck on to the copy of the Ordnance Survey map with tape. The item is also annotated in pencil to show areas that are owned by the Department of the Environment. The item presumably dates from shortly after the Department of the Environment bought the site.
