Description

The southern burial chamber have been 'cut' horizontally at three feet above the inner ground level, and the passage capstones have been removed, to allow a view into the chambers. The drawing is signed 'S.P. 1958'. This refers to the archaeologist Stuart Piggott, who, along with Professor RJC Atkinson, excavated the site in 1955-56. Drawing produced for publication, the sheet is marked 'fig.19'.
