Description

All seven niches (including that reconstructed after 1885) are visible and contain animal bones. The visible area of the floor is entirely covered in paving slabs suggesting this is the fully preserved floor discovered by Clayton who decided to remove it to allow investigation of the lower layers in 1886. This gives the suggested date for the photograph but as this is based on incomplete records of the process of excavation the print may be up to 20 years later. The bibliographic source for this suggested date is given above. The date is also comparable to that given for OP03259 in this set which was established from independent evidence.
