Description

The original caption reads: "View of the Transport Pavilion from the Fairway, South Bank Exhibition, Festival of Britain 1951."

The Transport Pavilion was designed by Thomas Rodney of Arcon. The Pavilion had four sections: rail, road, sea and air - around the "spinal column" of the story of communication, such as telephony and telegraphy, which was seen as the "lifeline of modern transport"
