Description

The Collingwood Buildings were built in 1899 by Oliver and Leeson and completed in 1903 by Cackett and Burns Dick. The image shows the carvings on the corner part of the building, occupied by Barclays Bank. The print has the following caption regarding the carvings: 'The panel 19 feet long. The figures 5 feet high. Modelled and carved at The Collingwood Buildings, Newcastle on Tyne. There was about £800 of carving on these buildings. Barclays Bank occupy the corner portion. T Colley, Carver, 103 The Chase, Clapham, South London'.
