Description

The photograph is mounted on the same card as OP28734. Former Congregational Chapel. The congregation originated in the late 17th century when Dr Henry Langley, formerly Master of Pembroke College, Oxford, and other ejected ministers, conducted services in the district. A meeting house was built in 1700 and registerd for Presbyterians on 12th October. The church became Congregational in the late 18th century after a period of heterodoxy.
