Description

On the back of the mount for this print is the note: 'St Mary the Virgin Iffley, built soon after 1160. A typical 12th century village church, no transept, aisles or side chapels. Choir lengthened 13th century, raised at a higher level. Choir wall buttressed 14th century and decorated window inserted in Norman part of choir. 15th cent. insertion windows in Norman nave and under tower. Circular west window 1860 restoration on original lines replacing a Perpendicular window'.

This photograph was withdrawn from the open Red Box Collection for conservation reasons during the 2011-2012 Red Box Project.
