Description

The original caption reads: "F. E. McWilliam with his Sculptures “The Four Seasons”. The work is in plastic wood and have been commissioned for the Agricultural Hall, South Bank Exhibition, Festival of Britain 1951."

McWilliam's 'The Four Seasons' were displayed in The Country Pavilion at the South Bank Exhibition. The figures were twice life size, and were built using a metal framework and modelled in plastic wood, which made them lighter than carved wood. The sculptures were elevated ten feet from the ground.
